Stones unturned - MAFIA III Dlc

Stones Unturned is the second piece of DLC story content for Mafia III. When a merciless rival resurfaces in New Bordeaux, Lincoln must join forces with CIA agent John Donovan to settle a Blood Feud that began in the war-torn jungles of Vietnam.

Due to the smaller size of the DLC team, I was able to successfully pitch specific spectacle events (a battle with a submarine, the finale ambush with a waiting helicopter) as well as get much more hands-on designing a combat spaces.

In particular, I was responsible for the Soviet Bunker mission, from the reveal up to the boss fight with the DLC's antagonist. I took the space from a pen-and-paper concept sketch, through white / grey boxing, roughing out combat spaces, and eventually working with environmental artists to fully prop, light and lay out the spaces to create a believable but unique space with interesting combat encounters, good pacing and a few surprise spectacle events (I'm particularly proud of the "breach and clear" ambush inside the bunker's radio room, a late addition to the mission).

It was incredibly rewarding to work on this DLC. Creating linear combat spaces with a focus on character and narrative was a real joy, and getting to script specific moments of banter and interaction between Donovan and Lincoln was a real treat.
